AMICI returned to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre with a triple bill - a new company piece Timestep choreographed by Wolfgang Stange, Breaking Out a collaboration between AMICI’s Bill Robins and Colm Gallagher and Untitled choreographed by company member Carol Britten.
Timestep explored the life experiences of 82 year old AMICi member Marjorie Crawford, stage name Paddie Dare. In a surrealistic daydream she stepped back in time and relived moments from days gone by. Worker's Playtime, ENSA in Normandy, George Formby, Josephine Baker and the liberation of Paris were part of that journey.
As Cinderella lost her slipper at the magic hour, so Marjorie lost her sense of creative freedom as a child. Is she going to find her "slipper" on this journey? Are we all capable of searching and finding the things that matter to us most? All the AMICI members told this extraordinary story with flashbacks, dream sequences, narration and music.
